Understanding your visa options
Australia offers a range of visa pathways for healthcare professionals at different stages of their careers. Each visa has its own eligibility criteria, benefits and processes. Explore the main options below, and we will determine the one best suited to you together.
Employer-Sponsored Temporary Skilled Work Visa
Employer-sponsored (temporary) - Skills in Demand (SID)
An employer-sponsored temporary work visa that allows an approved Australian employer to sponsor a skilled worker from overseas to fill a workforce shortage. It is a common entry pathway for healthcare professionals and, where the conditions are met, can lead to permanent residence.
Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS) Visa
Permanent residence - Employer Nomination Scheme (ENS)
A permanent residence visa that allows skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer for a full-time, ongoing position to live and work in Australia indefinitely. It is suited to healthcare professionals with a job offer and the required qualifications and experience.
Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional (Provisional) Visa
Regional (provisional) - Skilled Employer Sponsored Regional
A provisional visa for skilled workers nominated by an approved employer operating in a designated regional area. It allows you to live and work in regional Australia and, where the conditions are met, provides a pathway to permanent residence through the Subclass 191 (Skilled Regional) visa.
Training Visa
Temporary occupational training - Training Visa
A temporary visa that allows you to undertake workplace-based occupational training relevant to your occupation, under the sponsorship of an approved Australian organisation. It is valuable for healthcare professionals who are recent graduates or wish to gain Australian experience and qualifications.

AHPRA registration and licensing

Qualification assessment: Your qualifications are assessed against Australian standards; additional training may be required.
English proficiency: You are typically expected to prove your English through a test such as IELTS, OET or PTE Academic.
Skills assessment: Some professions require a skills assessment to verify your qualifications and experience.
